Ideally, a dog’s anal glands empty naturally every time they have a bowel movement. However, due to genetics, allergies, or soft stools, these small sacs can become “impacted” or full.+1
Watch for these signs:
- The “Scoot”: Dragging their bottom across the carpet.
- Licking: Excessive attention to their rear end.
- Odors: A sudden, pungent, “fishy” smell.
