The Rule of Thumb: Once a year.
Just like humans, most pets benefit from a professional dental cleaning annually. However, every pet is an individual. Small dog breeds, such as Chihuahuas or Yorkies, often have crowded teeth that require more frequent care (every 6 months), while some large dogs or cats may go longer.
During a wellness exam at Cave Spring, we’ll grade your pet’s dental health. If we see redness along the gumline or heavy tartar, it’s time for a professional cleaning to prevent tooth loss and systemic infections.
